Programmes Chef Abroad Series 1

Probably best not to complain about Chef Michael Smith's cooking, at 6 feet 8 inches tall you might not get to taste dessert. In reality, Michael is one of the nicest chefs you could hope to meet and his travels in this series take him all over the globe. Michael has an eye for unusual dining experiences and so he finds himself eating at the Flying Table, a banquet table hoisted 200 feet over Cape Town's beaches in South Africa. He then stops in at Google's offices in California to see how all the different kitchens compete to provide the 10,000 meals required each day. Michael even finds himself aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington learning how best to feed 6,000 hungry sailors. Stopping off to meet with a chef almost as tall as him at the Ice Hotel in Sweden, an avant garde artist community in Amsterdam and with royalty in Jordan you can be sure that, when it comes to food, Michael Smith is happy to go just about anywhere to sample it.
