Dreamthinkspeak – One Step Forward…One Step Back
7 April – 10 May

This piece takes the audience on a route through the interior of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral using film, installation, models and live performance.  It is the work of acclaimed Brighton-based producer Tristan Sharps who has collaborated with local performers to bring the production to realisation.

Viennese Balls
12 – 13 April

In April, St. Georges Hall hosts a weekend of Viennese Balls.  People are invited to dance the Viennese Waltz to the accompaniment of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in an evening which celebrates Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008.  The performance begins at 7.30pm.

Gustav Klimt Exhibition
30 May – 31 August

The Tate Liverpool hosts the most comprehensive exhibition of Klimt’s work the UK has ever seen.  The exhibition entitled Painting, Design and Modern Life in Vienna 1900 looks at the life as well as the art of one of the great figures of Art Nouveau.

MTV Music Awards
6 November

Liverpool hosts the 15th Annual MTV Europe Music Awards in the Echo Arena.  The music event will draw fans from all over the continent and will be broadcast live from the venue.  It is only the third time the UK has hosted the event; previous host cities were London and Edinburgh.  The new state of the art Echo Arena on the Mersey Riverfront was thought to be a perfect venue in the perfect city as Liverpool celebrates European Capital of Culture status.

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic celebrates Liverpool's great tradition of singing, with performances of song cycles by composers including Mahler and Schubert and a major new choral work, specially commissioned from Sir John Tavener.
