Varun Sharma is Mr Luxury Travel. What this man doesn’t know about private jets, personal butler service and the best of the best isn’t worth knowing. To mark our brand new series of INSIDE LUXURY TRAVEL – THE FINEST we caught up with Varun for his Top Ten Tips for the Luxury Traveller.
- 4 days in luxury is worth 10 days of mediocrity ... you only get a finite amount of holiday ... make it count.
- Look at travelling “out of season” ... some destinations are too hot for the locals and it’s deemed as “low season” ... that’s when you will get bargains! i.e. UAE – so hot in Summer ... but the most competitive in price.
- Go for the least expensive room in a great hotel – rather than the best room in a mediocre hotel. What you will lack in room size will more than make up for in service and facilities.
- If it’s a short flight take a budget airline! Even the richest people in the world have been seen on an EasyJet or Ryanair flight!
- If it’s a long-haul flight pre-book a lounge-pass to ensure maximum luxury time.
- Before you arrive at your destination, pre-book restaurants & sightseeing trips through your hotel concierge. The service is free – use it!
- Don’t eat airline food – if you wouldn’t eat it at home, why would you in a plane? A sushi box from Pret-A-Manger plus lots of drinking water will ensure a pleasant flight & arrival. But beware that in the UK there are restrictions on the items you can take airside!
- If money is no object – have your luggage couriered to your hotel before you arrive!
- For long-haul, invest in a personal deioniser ... around Euros 50 ... will cleanse the air around you and help with any jet lag.
- Book a massage on arrival at the hotel – it will soothe away the stress of flying and set you up for a great trip.
Enjoy EVERY minute!
