Roar of the Wild
EPISODE 1: Foreverglades
Join Lin Sutherland, adventurer, journalist and filmmaker on her exploration of the globe and its inhabitants. In this episode Lin takes us to the Everglades National Park to explore the flora and fauna and show people just how unique this wilderness is. To get amongst the action she takes an airboat, canoes, jumps in a light aircraft and hikes deep into the forest. Along the way she talks with the experts to understand the effects of development on this ecosystem and how the animals of the Everglades are coping.
EPISODE 2: Blue Hawaii
In this episode Lin goes to the islands of Hawaii to explore the volcanic mystery of the island and its rich marine life. Lin takes the audience on a voyage of discovery and insight into what makes this island so lush and rich in vegetation by hiking up to a live volcano, lush waterfalls and hidden valleys.
EPISODE 3: Islands Of Dragons
In this episode Lin introduces us to the nearly extinct, prehistoric, and man-eating Komodo dragon. This fabled three-metre beast - the Lizard King - is only found in the Komodo National Park in Indonesia. Lin finds herself on an adventure when she comes face to face with this beast and then has to chase them out of the dingy.
EPISODE 4: Unexpected Paradise
Join Lin Sutherland, adventurer, journalist and filmmaker on her exploration of the globe and its inhabitants. In this episode Lin visits one of the last frontiers, Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is a land that still hides native people, wildlife and abundant seas. With all that natural beauty it is one of Lin's favourite places. Lin travels to the wild and remote untamed land. Here she visits the small island of Loloata to go searching for Seasnakes that come on to land. Here she goes night stalking with Frank her guide where they get hands on with their snakey friends.
EPISODE 5: Wild Western Australia
Lin is drawn to the deserted coasts of Western Australia - starting her trek in Shark Bay as she retraces the steps of early Australian exploration by the Dutch and Australia's first white landing. Here she unfolds the gruesome story of the Batavia and early shipwreck that ended in a bloody trail of history. She also meets the world famous Monkey Mia dolphins and visits the pioneer pearling farm in Australia.
EPISODE 6: Pacific Spirit
In this episode Lin feels at home among the beautiful Pacific people and enjoys their hospitality, their beliefs and their beautiful ocean bounties. Her first port of call is the Solomons where she talks with a medicine man & dives a custom cave. Then she explores the war wrecks hidden beneath the sparkling waters the remains of foreign hostility that came to these peaceful shores.
EPISODE 7: Wide Wide West
Lin starts at the Ningaloo reef exploring nearby sand cays that belong to the birds even finding an eagle's nest and a rare half white Humpback Whale. Then she explores the Monte Bello islands, site of the atomic blasts in the 1950's. Lin gets personal with the tidal mud crabs and debates the effects of the blasts.
EPISODE 8: Big Marine Encounters
Join Lin Sutherland, adventurer, journalist and filmmaker on her exploration of the globe and its inhabitants. Lin goes in search of the big marine creatures and the animals she loves to meet. Her first stop takes her to the remote Cocos Islands famous for their stunning marine life and schooling Hammerheads. Lin is temporarily held up by a mudslide with the friendly locals before embarking on a 48-hour boat ride to a remote location.
EPISODE 9: Cascading Kimberley
Lin explores the town of Broome in North West Australia to learn about the early pearling days, and the history of its camels used for transportation. Lin decides to see what it's like to travel by camel on the famous white beaches of Broome and explore its unique landscapes.
EPISODE 10: Eastern Jewels
In this episode Lin explores the jewels of Australia's south-eastern coast. She starts her trek in Australia's most southern state, the lush island of Tasmania & it's ancient forest ecosystems. Lin finds this ecosystem and its animals under threat and exposes the destructive practice of clear felling. She then heads to the Phillip Island off the Victorian coast to meet the the Penguins, Koalas and Sea Lions
EPISODE 11: Deep Safari
Lin heads to the wilds of South Africa to explore the wildlife that has made it famous. The trek starts in Cape Town where Lin meets the endangered Jackass Penguin and explores the southern Cape. Then she heads to the colourful markets of Durban before embarking on her safari to meet the White Rhino face to face. Lin also meets the people who saved the White Rhino from extinction. Then, it is over to the magical islands of the Seychelles in the middle of the Indian ocean.
EPISODE 12: Blue Paradise
Join Lin Sutherland, adventurer, journalist and filmmaker on her exploration of the globe and its inhabitants. One of the most beautiful marine playgrounds in the world is the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Lin explores this marine paradise. First we take a look at how this magnificent reef came about. Then Lin heads to the southern coral cays and a small island paradise Heron Island. Heron Island is an island reserve and a haven for sea birds and nesting turtles. Then it's time for Lin to get the wind blowing through her hair as she sets sail through the continental islands of the Whitsundays. She frolics, fishes, snorkels and hikes through her very own Blue Paradise.
EPISODE 13: Reef Running
In this final episode Lin explores the northern part of the world's greatest reef The Great Barrier. She dives night and day to capture a magical spawning event, then explores what has become one of the best examples of an artificial reef, the wreck of the "Yongala". Finally Lin explores the stunning Ribbon Reefs in the far north and climbs the same mountain Captain Cooke climbed to find his way through this maze of reefs.
