TRAVEL CHANNEL TO LAUNCH ON SKY NEW ZEALAND |

(London 10th Feb 2010) Travel Channel International and New Zealand’s SKY Television have confirmed the launch of Travel Channel on SKY on 1st May 2010. Since its launch in London in 1994, Travel Channel has grown to serve cable and satellite audiences across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, transmitting on 20 satellites in 18 languages. The deal with SKY Television makes the channel’s entertaining and inspirational mix of programmes available in New Zealand for the first time. Travel Channel International Chief Executive Richard Wolfe said, “SKY is one of the most successful Pay TV providers in the world and it is a great privilege for us to be working with them to bring the channel to New Zealand. More than 90 percent of our programming will be New Zealand premieres and we are looking forward to New Zealanders becoming part of our rapidly expanding international family of viewers.” John Fellet, SKY Television CEO, said, “SKY Television is dedicated to continuing its ongoing commitment to provide unique, entertaining and exclusive television for New Zealanders - Travel Channel is a welcome addition to our platform.” Travel Channel is designed to nurture the universal human impulse to experience the world’s diversity. The Travel Channel launches on SKY New Zealand’s Digital Channel 77 from Saturday 1 May 2010. |

TRAVEL CHANNEL TO AIR MISS WORLD 2009 |

Miss World 2009 will air exclusively in the UK on the Travel Channel this Saturday 12th December.
The most watched annual television event, Miss World has raised more than US$500 million for charities around the globe. 2009 sees 112 contestants, including Miss England, Katrina Hodge, hoping to win the coveted crown.
Miss World 2009 will broadcast live on Saturday 12th December at 3pm, repeating at 9.30pm and on Sunday 13th December at 6.30pm. Travel Channel can be found on Sky channel 251, and Travel Channel +1 on Sky 252 |

TRAVEL CHANNEL WINS BROADCAST JOURNALIST AWARD |

London, 4th December 2009 Travel Channel’s Amanda Hudson won ‘Travel Broadcast Journalist of the Year’ at the inaugural British Travel Press Awards held in London last week. Travel Channel’s Head of Production since 2005, Amanda produced and directed Essential Utah which received the accolade. With the approach that the destinations are more than just a chance to unwind, the Essential series unearths the essence of a destination – its attractions, culture, history, politics, arts and the secret of its fascination.
Other 2009 Travel Press Awards winners include: The Travel Broadcast Programme of the Year won by 48 Hours In…Rio, which is presented by Simon Calder and presently airs on Travel Channel. The Travel Editors’ Green Award of the Year went to Richard Hammond for greentraveller.co.uk. Richard is a contributing editor of Travel Channel’s How to Holiday Greener.
