Travel Channel are pleased to have this cheeky northerner on board as one of the ESSENTIAL…team and Mike is very pleased to be on board as his top 3 passions in life are Man City… travel and… watching eggs boil ….don‘t ask ….

Mike started travelling when he was 19 after a girl broke his heart…well only for 5 minutes but it was a good excuse to pack his bag and set off on a trip around the world and that’s what he did, only bless him, he had to stay in youth hostels. However he said it was one of the best times of his life.

Mike is a stand up comedian, actor, television and radio presenter and you will probably recognise him from The Big Breakfast ,CCTV for BBC3 to Nickelodeon’s Nick A.M., ITV’s Mad For It, The Match on Sky One, The Office Xmas Special and most recently,  as the roving reporter on Richard & Judy. In fact, the list goes on and on and on.

Mikes first assignment for ESSENTIAL…was filming a report in Las Vegas and yes he went back to the same youth hostel where he stayed all those years ago and yes it was still there, along with a bill for 2 night’s unpaid accommodation. Mike is really looking forward to travelling to lots of different places, meeting the locals and bringing you the best reports from around the world, and what with his cheeky charm and razor sharp wit, I guess his reports are going to be nothing but fun.

He has his fingers crossed that he gets to travel to some amazing places and achieve one of his biggest dreams - to swim with dolphins and scuba dive in some of the worlds most amazing seas.

Mike presents the xfm Manchester breakfast show every morning from 6am to 10 am, and is a paid up member of the Paul Daniels fan club.
