Episode 1: Snow Park, New Zealand and Snowmass, Colorado

It’s August and Mike Douglas is in Snow Park, Shredding. the newest Terrian Park south of the equator in Cardona Valley near Wanaka, NZ. Mike interviews Jon Olsson- Super Swede, 8-time X games medallist, TJ Schiller, 1st place slopestyle, at the Gravity games, and Chris O’Connell, senior photographer for Freestyle Magazine. Frank Wells, Park Guru from Colorado explains how the amazing park is created and maintained.

Mike then travels to Aspen Colorado and visits one of North Americas largest ski areas, Aspen-Snowmass. Mike explores Snowmass, one of Aspen’s four mountains with local freeskiing legend, Chris Davenport. On Buttermilk Mountain, he checks out the Terrain Park.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler explains the importance of keeping your feet together in deeper snow and how to carve a turn by ‘facing the force’.

 

Episode 2: Treble Cone, New Zealand and Zermatt, Switzerland

Mike Douglas skis Treble Cone and visits the town of Wanaka. He socializes with Kias, the world’s only mountain parrot and then dives into the air on the Shotover Cannon Swing in Queenstown.  

In the second half of the show Edith Rozsa explores the beautiful Valais Alps and skis Zermatt, Switzerland with the Matterhorn in view. She checks out a unique igloo village and goes to relax at the spa.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler helps you ski in cut-up snow and also works your abs and ankles in cut up snow.

 

Episode 3: Big White, British Columbia and St. Moritz, Switzerland

This week Edith Rozsa skis at the home of the snow ghosts, Big White Ski Resort in the heart of the Okanogan valley, British Columbia.  Edith checks out the resort’s many amenities including the Kids Centre, ice skating, inner-tubing, horse-drawn carriage rides, and night skiing in the Terrain Park.  She then travels to St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps, a mecca for winter activities on and off the slopes. She also attends the Polo World Cup on Snow. Edith learns how St. Moritz operates in an environmentally friendly way.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler teaches you how ski as if you are riding a mountain bike and also shows you how to adapt your pole plant based on the type of hill you are skiing.

 

Episode 4: Panorama, British Columbia and Grindelwald, Switzerland

Joe Lammers skis what is considered to be truly a skier’s mountain, Panorama Mountain Village.  Joe explores the slope-side accommodations and eats lunch 3400 feet above the valley floor at the unique Elkhorn Cabin. Joe carves up the Taynton Bowl and later checks out ‘howl night’ at the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre. 

In part two of the show Edith Rozsa carves turns in the middle of the Alps in historic Grindelwald Switzerland. Edith takes the train up to Jungfrau Joch - The Top of Europe, and views Europe’s longest glacier. She tries tandom parapenting over the Jungfrau region and goes snow biking down the mountain.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler demonstrates how to ski in cut up powder snow and the proper technique in large bumps.

 

Episode 5: Mica Heli-Skiing, Canada and Seki Onsen, Japan

Mike Douglas visits Mica Heli-skiing near beautiful Revelstoke British Columbia, Canada, the heliskiing capital of the world. Mike carves up some fantastic powder on mellow wide open glaciers before navigating steep rock-lined chutes.  

In the second half, Mike visits Japan. The trip begins with a day in Tokyo and a visit to a Buddhist temple with a look at staying in a traditional Japanese hotel. Mike skis unbelievable powder in the open-boundary backcountry of Seki Onsen. Later he visits a local hot spring.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler teaches you how to ski with your feet together in new snow. Rob also shows you how to use the snow plow to improve your skiing.

 

Episode 6: Wiegele Heli-Skiing, Canada and Myoko Kogen, Japan

Mike Douglas experiences the steep and deep at Mike Wiegele Heli-Skiing. Mike glides through powder in a wide variety of terrain. Mike checks out the fine dining good spirits at The Silver Buckle Lounge. Later Mike goes skiing with Mike Wiegele himself. Mike then travels to Japan with Shane Szocs. Mike and Shane do some back country skiing and carve up the deep powder on Mount Myoko, the largest ski area in Japan. Later they check out the typical Japanese ski town. Mike also visits Arai Mountain resort, one of the most modern ski areas in Japan.

Episode 7: Tignes, France and Mont Sainte Anne, Quebec City

Chris Robinson hosts and Darryl Palmer visits Tignes, France. Darryl takes in the history of the ski village, checks out Funiculaire - an innovative way of getting up the Mountain, and attends a World Cup Freestyle event. Later, Darryl enjoys a traditional French fondue dinner.

In the second half of the show Edith Rosza and Chris Robinson visit one of the biggest and the best in eastern Canada, Mont-Sainte-Anne Mountain Resort near Quebec City. Edith checks out the family and beginner facilities offered at Mount-Sainte Anne while Chris carves up some of the expert runs including the infamous Black Forest. Later, Chris and Edith do some world class cross-country skiing available at Mount-Sainte-Anne. Chris and Edith also visit Quebec City, the Chutes Momorency and the world renowned Quebec Winter Carnival. Episode 8: Hotham, Australia and Apex Mountain Resort, British Columbia

Mike Douglas enjoys first class accommodations at Mount Hotham in Victoria, Australia.  Mark Steven and Marcus Lovett from “The Snow Show” show Mike all that the resort has to offer. Andrea Binning, one of the best female big-mountain skiers in the world, shows Mike more of Hotham and also takes Mike to Falls Creak, a nearby resort.

Later, Edith Rosza visits Apex Mountain Resort, a hidden gem in the south end of the Okanogan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. Edith tours the mountain with an old pal and rips up some wide-open rolling terrain as well as some of the steep and deep. Edith goes snow showing and checks out a one kilometer long zamboni maintained ice-skating oval.  In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler shows you how to ‘peddle’ with your skis to help you turn. Episode 9: Perisher Blue, Australia and Bariloche, Argentina

Mike Douglas is in Australia skiing at Perisher Blue, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere. Mike powder skis through some gorgeous terrain unique to Australia. Mike cuddles with some adorable baby wombats and feeds some kangaroos. Later Mike travels to beautiful Bariloche, in Patagonia Argentina. Mike powder skis through the trees and spends some time checking out the historic town of Bariloche. He also takes a scenic boat cruise along the shoreline and hikes through the unique features of national park. Episode 10: Whakapapa New Zealand and Silver Star Resort, British Columbia

Edith Rosza visits Whakapapa- the largest and busiest resort in New Zealand. The beautiful scenery as well as the varied terrain make Whakapapa a magnificent place to ski. Edith also visits Mount Turoa, a smaller resort with scenery unlike anything you will see in other parts of the world. She checks out the annual Mardi Gras and joins in the festivities.

 

In the second half of the show, Edith visits Silver Star British Columbia, a resort famous for its powder snow. In addition to the variety of ski terrain offered at Silver Star, she also takes in numerous other activities including snowshoeing and tubing.   In Personal Performance Tips, Rob Butler shows you how to ski on your inside ski as well as your outside ski.
