Canadians Mark Jooris and Mark West played pro hockey, got married, had kids and settled down. But now they're bored, so decide to open a steakhouse. Turns out, it's a lot harder than they thought, and sometimes they just wish they could be back on the ice

 

Episode 2: New York City Country Restaurant

Celebrated New York chef Geoffrey Zakarian is opening his latest restaurant, Country, on Madison Avenue, a $12 million project. There will be no menu and no choice. Zakarian expects diners will simply trust in him to be serving what they need.

 

Episode 3: Century, Vancouver

Sean Sherwood and Michael Mitton are old friends who are opening Century, a Latin-themed club and restaurant in Vancouver's heritage district. Sean has insisted on doing the design himself. Michael is not happy. Will Century finish their friendship for good?

 

Episode 4: Sunset, Los Angeles

This series looks at the trials and tribulations of restaurateurs launching new dining establishments around the world. In this episode an ambitious investment banker decides to become a restaurateur and opens Sunset, a Disney-style 'restaurant theme park'. Three Directors of Operations later, he's struggling to make things work. Has he bitten off more than he can chew?

 

Episode 5:  Repast, Atlanta.

Here a husband and wife trade in their high pressure lives in New York for a picket fence in the suburbs of Atlanta. But when they try to fulfill their dream of opening their own restaurant serving the same elegant food they love to eat at home, they come up against fierce opposition from the locals.

 

Episode 6: Seattle, Fork Restaurant

Scott Simpson had great success with the Blue Onion Bistro, but following a manic/depressive episode, was forced to sell. Now he's back with Fork, a high-end experimental restaurant located in a cozy 1920s heritage cottage, and he has only 6 weeks to open! No pressure there, then!

Episode 7:  Cabana-Nashville

In Nashville, the big national chain restaurants are gobbling up the marketplace. But Randy Rayburn, the number one local restaurateur, is fighting back with Cabana, his new "eatertainment" complex featuring updated southern comfort food.

 

Episode 8: Los Angeles, Memphis

This series looks at the trials and tribulations of restaurateurs launching new dining establishments around the world. It's the dream of five LA entrepreneurs to transform Janes House, the last remaining Victorian structure on Hollywood Boulevard, into 'Memphis', the next place to see and be seen in Los Angeles

 

Episode 9:   Cochon, New Orleans.

Here we meet Donald Link , a chef and restaurateur born and raised in Bayou country, Louisiana. He was well on his way to opening New Orleans' first authentic Cajun restaurant when Hurricane Katrina hit. He lost his home and his other restaurant in New Orleans, but not his drive.

 

Episode 10:  Dish, Boulder, Colorado

In this episode Brian and Stacey Benham manage to get all their friends to stump up the money they need to get started in the restaurant business in Boulder, Colorado. But right away they face a big problem: someone else claims to have trademarked their name!

 

Episode 11:  Seven on Fulton, New Orleans.

After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, a once successful restaurateur and an ambitious chef decide to open a new restaurant. There's a shortage of staff and essential products, but without new businesses like Seven on Fulton, New Orleans can't hope to rebuild.

 

Episode 12:   Lola, Cleveland

This series looks at the trials and tribulations of restaurateurs launching new dining establishments around the world. Successful Cleveland restaurateur Michael Symon has decided to expand from a small bistro to a massive 1.7 million dollar establishment with a new food 'concept'. Maintaining his legendary high standards will be a challenge, and the locals doubt he can pull it off.

 

Episode 13:   Thali, Grand Haven, Michigan

In this episode a Sri Lankan born Wall Street banker decides to open the first South Asian restaurant in a small Michigan coastal town. She's invested everything, but knows nothing about restaurants. At 30, single and with a glamorous shoe collection, she is the local oddity.
