GREAT HISTORIC SITES

Everywhere you go in the world, you'll find monuments to a different age. Each civilization has left its mark, from the New World Mayans to the mysterious statues on Easter Island in the Pacific.

We start with Stonehenge in England, one of the earliest remaining monuments to ancient man. Around the same time in Africa, the ingenuity of the Egyptian master builders resulted in the Great Pyramids at Giza and the Valley of the Kings. Travelling through time, we explore the power and sophistication of the Greek empire, while thousands of miles away the Qin dynasty in China was building the incredible terracotta warrior tomb.

We visit Petra, a city carved out of glowing red rocks by the Nabatean people, deep in the Jordanian desert. But the ancient world's most powerful civilization was the glorious Roman Empire, whose monuments are found throughout Europe, the Mideast and North Africa.

Once the might of Rome was in decline, the growing Christian and Islamic faiths started creating their own magnificent monuments. Heading east, we explore the majesty of Ankor Wat in Cambodia, and in the New World, the mystery of the Inca and Maya cities of the Americas. We end our historic journey with the lost civilization of Easter Island.
