Episode 1: Kerala Backwaters, India

Earthwalkers follows Angela and her boyfriend Martin from Canada as they uncover the highlights of Kollam in southern India. Join them as they explore the city markets, sample some of the local cuisine and enjoy a relaxing swim at the beach. We join Angela and Martin on a captivating boat ride through the elaborate network of waterways that make up the Kerala backwaters, weaving their way through villages set amidst lush vegetation, offering a unique insight into Kerala's rural lifestyle, where land and water are inseparable.

 

Episode 2: Auckland, New Zealand

Auckland is the picturesque harbor side city of New Zealand and also a starting point for many visitors to the land of the long white cloud. Come with Daniel from Germany as he checks out the "City of Sails", first climbing the sky tower to get a good view, only to jump off the top with the help of Sky Jump. Enjoy the wonders of Auckland harbour with him on his dolphin and whale cruise and then meet the Greenpeace crew moored nearby.


Episode 3: Phnom Penh, Cambodia & Cairo, Egypt

The crumbling colonial architecture and bustling street side cafés of Phnom Penh are Earthwalkers destination for this episode. The killing fields of Choeung Ek are a grisly reminder of this country's tumultuous and violent past. Earthwalkers joins up with Stacey, Yvonne and Muire from Ireland as they discover the ancient and recent history of this fascinating country and experience the vibrant lifestyle as the friendly people open up to a new age.
We also join up with two girls from Australia, Lucia and Amy, as they discover some of the highlights Cairo has to offer. We follow Amy through the hustle and bustle of the city as she goes in search of a bargain at one of the many bazaars. Lucia takes a camel ride to visit the amazing Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world that is still standing.


Epsiode 4: Penang, Malaysia

Join Earthwalkers for a visit to the "Pearl of the Orient", Penang. Come along with Ronan from Ireland as he explores the many attractions of this diverse island. Our traveller checks out little India and a local Hindu temple, he discovers the beautiful Kek Lok Si Buddhist Temple and enjoys some local flavours at a seafood restaurant where he chooses his own live food to eat. A visit to Penang would not be complete without visiting one the island's beautiful beaches, where Ronan takes a relaxing sunset boat ride to cap off his busy day.


Episode 5: Hong Kong, China

Hong Kong is a bustling metropolis, which welcomes millions of visitors every year, offering the traveller a diverse and exciting range of natural, cultural and cosmopolitan attractions. Earthwalkers joins Scottie from Australia, who is a first time traveller to Asia, as he roams the streets discovering vibrant open air markets, fascinating traditional Chinese temples, samples some of the incredible array of different foods and views the dazzling city from Victoria Peak.


Episode 6: Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Earthwalkers joins Ben from Sweden as he delves into the wonders of Lake Taupo and the surrounding region. Learn the art of fly-fishing with him as he takes his first lesson in one of the best trout rivers in the world, with a local expert guide who shows him how it's done. Then cool off in the pristine waters of vast lake Taupo before taking a sunset boat cruise alongside Maori rock carvings, later returning to his hostel to show us how to cook the beautiful trout his guide caught for him.


Episode 7: Battambang, Cambodia & Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Earthwalkers visits Cambodia's second largest city, which is set around the banks of the Sangkar River. We join Jo from England as she explores the town and some of the best-preserved colonial architecture in the country. Then it's on the back of a motorbike for a guided tour through surrounding countryside. Enjoying the local food, Jo tries her hand at cooking some of the tasty cuisine after a trip through the local markets.
Kuala Lumpur is a modern, vibrant city of two million people filled with towering skyscrapers that stand alongside a thriving multicultural centre. Come with Liisa from Finland as she and her boyfriend Anthony take in the breathtaking views of the city from the tallest building in the world, take the monorail around town and visit the bustling Chinatown district and little India while sampling the tempting array delicious foods.
The next day join our Earthwalkers as they visit the fascinating Hindu temples at the Batu Caves. Ending their visit to K.L, our travelers check out the Bird Park in the city, the largest of its kind in the world.


Episode 8: Felucca Down The Nile, Egypt

Join Earthwalkers as we set sail with Marcie and Mary from Canada on a three-day Felucca ride down the Nile River. Imagine spending your day lying on the deck of a traditional sailing craft, floating gently down the Nile, watching the activities of local villages and visiting the riverside temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo. We also spend two nights under a blanket of stars, sampling the delicious local cuisine and enjoying some Nubian singing and drumming.


Episode 9: The Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Earthwalkers joins up with Kelsey and her boyfriend Matt as they check out the Bay of Islands in the north of New Zealand. This area is blessed with nearly 150 islands surrounded by clear turquoise and deep blue waters, all having escaped development. It is also the site of the first permanent European settlement in New Zealand. Come with our Earthwalkers as they take a boat cruise around the islands; learn about the area's history and enjoy some captivating music and dance from the local Maori.


Episode 10: Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

The Cameron Highlands are the centre of Malaysia's tea industry and are made up of a series of hill stations at altitudes between 1500-1800m. Earthwalkers joins Dylan from New Zealand as he explores this beautiful region, first sampling the area's famous tea before checking out many of the region's incredible insect and reptile life, which is truly larger than life. Come along on a guided tour of the highlands, which includes a visit to a mountain village where Dylan is privileged to learn how to use a blow dart rifle, a weapon used for centuries by the mountain Aborigines.


Episode 11: Bangalore, India

Come with Phil from Australia as he digs deep into the contrasting cultures of Bangalore. Today it is known as Asia's Silicon Valley and is one of India's fastest growing cities; with a large population of young professionals, the city has acquired a vibrant, cosmopolitan feel. Phil checks out the centre of this growth, MG Road, then the local markets, where the differences could hardly be greater. Interested in the Hindu religion, Phil then delves into the local temples to learn more and receive many blessings.


Episode 12: Sihanoukville, Cambodia & Aswan, Egypt

Earthwalkers explores Cambodia's south coast looking for the sun, sand and beaches. Sihanoukville is Cambodia's premier beach town, with white sands, warm waters and a good atmosphere it's a great place to relax and chill out. We also take a boat trip out to the islands and enjoy some snorkeling and fresh seafood.


We also head to the busy Nubian town of Aswan situated on the banks of the Nile. We take guided tours of the Philae Temple and the UNESCO site of Abu Simbel; deep in the heart of the desert is a gigantic monolith out if which are carved four colossal statues. We also visit a Nubian village for a traditional dinner and dancing.


Episode 13: Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), India

Come with Matt from Australia as he and his girlfriend Alison uncover the age-old secrets of Ayurvedic foods and yoga in Trivandrum. After checking out the town markets, befriending the locals and going for a swim at one of the nearby beaches, Matt and Alison discover an Ayurvedia Restaurant, where they try the full range of health foods on offer. After being invited to try a yoga course, they are then treated to some expert tuition from a master of 45 years.
